Go
on, give a Steiff Teddy Bear a home!
Earlier
this year, PKAVS was delighted to receive an
extremely generous donation of 50 Steiff teddy bears and dolls
from a local supporter. Steiff toys are among some of the most
collectable in the world, and PKAVS is thrilled to be selling
off each item (individually or in collections) to help us raise
funds. Over the next few months, we will be auctioning items and
selling them privately and at collector's fairs across central
Scotland. Visit our online photo album to view these fantastic
items:

"Sparkles & Sporrans"
Charity Balls 2008 and 2009
Every autumn, PKAVS holds its annual Charity Ball,
which brings together hundreds of guests for a glamorous evening of
dinner, dancing, entertainment and charity fundraising. Our past
two Charity Balls have raised an incredible £18,000 for PKAVS
and have welcomed guest auctioneers Scottish actor Andy Gray and
radio broadcaster Jordan Burns to put a variety of unique prizes
under the hammer. Other celebrity guests
included Libby McArthur and Deirdre Davis, stars of BBC's River
City and last year, Miss Teen Galaxy International, Emma McInnes.

Team PKAVS
complete 96 charity miles!
|
Staff
at PKAVS launched new branded T-shirts during their participation in The
Great Scottish Walk on Sunday 25th May.
A team of seventeen walkers from PKAVS’ staff, supporters
and Peter Vardy car dealership in Perth wore the new T-shirts, sponsored by
local company Gumbi Gearİ, in a 12 mile sponsored walk through the cityscape
of Glasgow. Now in its tenth year, The Great Scottish Walks raises in excess
of £1million for 200 charities across Scotland every year. With the backing
of friends, family and colleagues, Team PKAVS walked a
staggering 96 miles between them and raised over £2,000 in
sponsorship.
PKAVS Marketing & Development Coordinator explained: “We felt that The Great Scottish Walk would offer the perfect
opportunity to invest in our first branded T-shirts. Local designer, Chris Wain of Waingroove Designs and designer clothing company Gumbi Gearİ came on
board to support us and the finished product looks fantastic.”

PKAVS Black &
White Masquerade Ball 2007
This spectacular night at Perth’s Salutation Hotel had
it all – TV celebrities, masked guests, and memorabilia
signed personally by film and TV stars such as:
• Bond 007 star Daniel Craig
• and Dr Who’s David Tennant
The theatrical thread ran throughout the evening when PKAVS
was joined by two of the stalwarts of Scottish acting, Andy
Gray, known for his numerous TV appearances in series such
as City Lights and Naked Video, and Martyn James. Both performed
like true stars as they entertained and raised thousands for
PKAVS during our charity auction and raffle.

PKAVS Fundraising Dinner
A charity fundraising dinner at the
Huntingtower Hotel raised thousands of pounds for PKAVS.
Muriel Gray, TV broadcaster and newspaper columnist gave an
entertaining account of like in TV and the media. A real star
on the night, Muriel’s wit entertained us and she praised the
work of PKAVS for all of the people we help.
Ken Buchanan MBE was
the Lightweight World Champion in the early 1970s and guested
as our celebrity auctioneer. He might have had an intimidation
factor as guests parted with their pounds in the thousands to
raise funds for PKAVS.

Ceilidh at the Castle 2006
Fingask Castle in Rait, Perthshire is one of the most stunning
locations to be found. A lovely summer’s night in June
saw 120 guests arrive to be greeted by Clann an Scotti, a
group who do portrayals of life in ancient Scotland.

A fabulous night’s entertainment was provided with
renowned band The Gallivanters providing the music for people
to dance away the night to. As ever, there was much whirling and birling as guests during
many Strip the Willows and Dashing White Sergeants. There was signed memorabilia from the stars in
the auction including:
|
- A replica Manchester United strip signed by Denis Law, Bobby
Charlton & George Best
- A Scotland rugby top signed by the team that beat in England
in 2006
- Plus the chance to be come an official Lord or Lady, with
a title being up for grabs

All of these events were attended by
over 100 businessmen and women, politicians and supporters
from the community. Guests came from all over
the UK, even as far afield as Wales! Thousands of
pounds was raised for PKAVS each time, whilst also raising
awareness of our work. We hope to organise more
in the future, with more top-name speakers and celebrities.
