The Walled Garden & Wisecraft

The Walled Garden is in Perth and Wisecraft is in Blairgowrie and both help people who have severe and/or enduring mental health illnesses.

Welcome to the garden

Did You Know?

Almost three quarters of Scots know someone close to them who has been diagnosed with a mental health problem at some point

The Walled Garden & Wisecraft are partly staffed by people who have severe and/or enduring mental illnesses. Taking and keeping a job has consistently been shown as key to emotional wellbeing boosting confidence and self esteem.

We help people learn new skills in our public gardens, the café or making crafts and arts. We also help people through hospitality and cooking courses with Perth College. Providing meaningful work and training for them can really help recovery and many return to jobs whilst others benefit from being included in the community.

Surely Not?!

  • 117,000 Scots with mental health problems want to work, and are unable to access jobs
  • 37% of employers said they would in future take on people with mental illness
  • 34% said that they had been dismissed or forced to resign after disclosing that they were suffering a mental illness.
