Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, visits PKAVS3rd October 2018
Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, visited PKAVS at The Gateway, in Perth City Centre, on Tuesday 2nd October. Her Royal Highness met with our service users including Unpaid Carers of all ages, our Day Service clients, Bridging the Gap clients, and our fantastic team of staff and volunteers.
Her Royal Highness has a long connection with PKAVS and formally opened The Gateway back in 1998. During her visit, she heard how PKAVS continues to flourish twenty years on, delivering diverse and life-changing work improving the wellbeing of people and communities throughout Perth & Kinross.
The visit culminated in Her Royal Highness officially opening The Betty Ross Memorial Garden, a comfortable outdoor space filled with colour for our Day Service clients to enjoy each other's company in a safe outdoor environment. The Garden is funded by The Betty Ross Trust in memory of Betty, who enjoyed many happy days attending PKAVS friendly Day Services.
Paul Graham, PKAVS Chief Executive, said, “Her Royal Highness has been a great supporter of PKAVS for over 20 years and it was wonderful to be able to welcome her back to show her the many ways in which we have grown in this time. As a long-time advocate and patron for unpaid carers, it was a privilege to be able to show The Princess Royal the life-changing work we carry out with carers young and old across Perth & Kinross.”
“It was a fantastic experience for our service users of all ages to be able to meet Her Royal Highness, which was, for many of them, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
