PKAVS Adult Carers offer support to unpaid carers over the age of 25 by helping them to overcome the challenges that being a carer can bring.

Adult Carers

A carer is a person, of any age, who looks after family members who are in need of support. This could be due to illness, physical disability, mental health issues or where there is a substance misuse in the household. This carer is unpaid – you may be in receipt of Carers Allowance but this not considered to be a payment.

If you think you are a Carer, know someone who is, or if you are a professional get help and support below or make a referral.

Loneliness and social isolation are associated with a reduced lifespan equal to someone smoking 15 cigarettes per day - and greater than someone with obesity. Loneliness is also linked to an increased risk of heart disease, dementia, anxiety, depression, addiction, and suicide.

The weekend away was fantastic and just having time to be myself away from my caring role and my role as a parent was so refreshing especially after the last year.

Just having a weekend where I only had to think of my own needs was a huge change and I was able to let a lot of anxieties go whilst we were away. I have come home and been more refreshed than I have been in a long time.
