Education Attainment Service for Young Carers

The Education Attainment Service was created with the premise that juggling a caring role and school commitments can have a negative impact on education. It is unreasonable that any young carer should have their education compromised because of the demands of their caring role and it is for this reason that this project was set up.

For primary school and S1-S3 young carers we can offer tutor groups in Perth, Auchterarder and Blairgowrie. For S3-S6 young carers, who have important exams approaching, we can offer access to 1:1 private tuition sessions delivered by our bank of tutors.

EASyc Tutoring is open to young carers, 5-18 years old who are registered with our service. Referrals must be made by a support worker who together with the young carer, either through a young carers statement or review, have identified the areas where they needs support and the type of support that would be suitable.

“I have been so impressed by the levels of enthusiasm and engagement the Young carers are showing during their sessions. To see the young carers performing in these ways had made me amazingly proud to be part of the PKAVS programme” Maths and Sciences Tutor, Ryan Smith

“Tutoring helps me as I have more time at home to care and I’ll also be able to balance my schoolwork as the tutoring covers most of the units meaning that I won’t have to study for long periods of time” Young Carer, Perth
