Deaf Links
Deaf Links provides a wide range of services, activities and learning opportunities for Deaf, hard of hearing and sensory impaired people.
Services include:
- Provide British Sign Language(BSL) Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3
- Deaf and deafblind Awareness Training to service providers, organisations and communities
- Volunteering
- Sensory Social Group
- Relaxation Classes
- Health Information Sessions
- Keep Safe Place
- 3rd Party Reporting Site for Police Scotland – report with support
Deaf Links also run a Sensory Advocacy Service and a Citizen Advocacy Service for people with a hearing or sight loss throughout Dundee, Perth & Kinross and Angus.
What is advocacy?
Someone to support you and help make sure your choices, views and rights are listened to and upheld. It is a FREE service. They will not make decisions for you. They will work with you to help you take control of important decisions in your life.
Who is it for?
They can support people who are:
- Deaf
- Hard of hearing

- Deafblind
- Blind
- Visually impaired or people with dual sensory loss
What do they do?
- Work for you only when and how you decide
- Help you get information so you know your choices
- Help you get ready for and go with you to meetings
- Help you understand letters/bills/benefits
- Help with forms
- Help with phone calls
- Help with debt issues
- Make sure your rights to communication support are respected
- Help with health appointments
- Help you to speak up for yourself
What is citizen advocacy
Citizen Advocacy services aim to build long, lasting 1 to 1 relationships between a volunteer citizen Advocate, who is unpaid and independent form the Deaf Links service, and people with a sensory loss living in their community. Citizen advocates represent their advocacy partners rights and interests as if they were their own to ensure there rights are upheld and there voice is heard. helping there partner to gain access to the community and reduce isolation.
