Scottish Top Third Sector Employer

March 22nd 2019, By pkavs

On the 21st March 2019, we were named Top Scottish Third Sector Employer in the Family Friendly Working Awards! This amazing achievement, following on from being named Employer of the Year for 2018 at the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awards, is great credit and recognition for everyone involved with PKAVS – our Board, staff, volunteers and valued partners.

The Top Employer awards celebrate the great work organisations do to create a flexible and family friendly culture, enabling working families to have a good balance between work and family life.

The Judges of the Award were particularly impressed by the breadth of support available to PKAVS employees, for example our family and carers friendly policies, our Living Wage approach and our employee engagement. The Judges also remarked about how specifically impressed they were with the way PKAVS has built up our Family Friendly approaches over the past couple of years having been a Finalist for this Award last year and continued with our efforts to expand our family friendly working practices.

Since last year, we have made efforts to build on our existing family-friendly practices and initiatives and offer even more support and flexibility to our staff. Within the last 12 months we have sourced and implemented a Childcare Voucher Scheme aimed to help parents with their childcare costs. We have also become a Disability Confident Committed Employer, committed PKAVS to the Scottish Business Pledge, and started working with Community Jobs Scotland with the aim of creating job posts for young people aged 16-29 who are more disadvantaged in the labour market, as well as extending our Living Wage commitments to include all our contractors.
