Creative Wellbeing

(Available at Wisecraft and The Walled Garden)

In our Creative Wellbeing department we explore four types of creative activities – arts and crafts, performance, music and creative writing. Workshops are provided across both of our locations on a rotational basis. No experience is needed to participate; just a willingness to try new things!

Arts and crafts

This is an excellent area for discovering your expressive side! In these workshops we get creative and crafty, messy and most importantly, have fun. Throughout the year we work towards different projects and explore different themes. These workshops are more relaxed, giving good opportunity for group discussion, reflection and support.

Performance

This area offers a space for using our imagination and importantly stepping outside that comfort zone we often find ourselves stuck in. These workshops will help you to feel empowered, confident and motivated. It is about expressing yourself in a new, exciting form and providing some entertainment!

Music

Here we offer a wide range of activities including creating our own musical instruments, exploring different genres of music, thinking about how music makes us feel, writing songs, and group singing and performances. Music is a great tool for connecting to our emotions and helping us feel at ease.

Creative writing

Within these workshops there’s no pressure or expectations towards your spelling or writing skills; we have different tools to support your own individual ability. This area is exciting for creating different stories, poems and writing reflective pieces. Writing, meeting others and sharing ideas helps process emotions and can have huge healing properties.

Taking part in creative art activities can help improve our mental health and wellbeing. Art can lower stress levels by stimulating the brain and providing a positive distraction from feeling overwhelmed. As we participate in the above workshops, we can work on boosting our self-esteem, create positive relationships and feel a great sense of accomplishment.
