Wellbeing and support in Perth & Kinross

Young Carers ID Card Relaunched in Perth Schools

Due a number of requests from young carers, we made the decision to relaunch our Young Carers ID card and have been working closely with PKC Education to make this happen!  Today saw the launch of the card at St Johns High School as part of their annual coffee morning, which is organised by and for young carers and forms part of the national ‘Young Carers Action Day’ celebrations. The funds raised by this event supports a Young Carers weekly breakfast club throughout the year and an annual young carers day trip.

Whilst young carers will have access to support in schools with or without an ID card, it can be a discreet way of seeking out support when it is most needed. For those aged 8-11 years the ID card identifies them as having a caring role. For those 12-18 years, in addition to be being a form of ID, the card also allows them to collect prescriptions and (where appropriate) attend medical diagnosis and prognosis of the person they care for.
